The Open University of Hong Kong (OUHK) was established in 1989 by the Hong Kong Government as the first local university to offer open and distance education. As the University has expanded, so have its modes of delivery, and we now also offer programmes in face-to-face and e-learning modes. More than 60,000 students have graduated and over 18,000 students are currently enrolled in the University’s programmes.

The University is committed to staying at the cutting edge of learning methodologies and technologies. It has an active research centre and has engaged in large-scale projects such as its Centre for Innovation (CFI) project which developed a next-generation, student-centred, intelligent, Web-based learning environment.
